You are here: Home Programs Mentoring Program

The mentoring program will provide African refugee and immigrant youth with a one-on-one personalized mentoring experience. The relationships aim to develop confidence and provide the tools necessary for youth to succeed academically and personally. Through stable and supportive mentoring relationships, youth will expand their potential, as well as establish objectives to explore and achieve their individual, educational, and personal goals.

Our students have faced many challenges. They need an adult, and a friend, they can look up to. As a mentor, you can create a dynamic atmosphere for both of you to learn and grow. You and your mentee will discuss his or her goals and interests, and do activities designed by the program coordinator. Once a month all matches will gather together to do group activities for team-building and fun!

In order to be eligible for the ACE Mentor program, you must be at least 18 years old. The matches will meet Mondays through Thursdays for an hour and a half after 3:00 pm.

The outcome for the students is limitless, but you may hear that he or she graduates from high schoolenrolls in collegedevelops positive relationships with adults and peers, and even gives back to the community just as you do.

Mentors also benefit from volunteering. If you have never mentored before, do not let that scare you. We provide you with the training you need to be successful. The training and experience will help you develop your personal skills. What you learn from your mentee will serve you in the future. And, of course, you get the sense of fulfillment from giving back!
